Teacher Feature Friday! 7/7/17

Thanks for joining us for another Teacher Feature Friday!

We truly can’t emphasize enough the importance of each and every teacher! We may be biased, but we think that ours are some of the best. 🙂 Don’t forget, next Monday (July 10th) we’ll be sharing what teachers are learning before students return to school! Without further ado, meet this week’s stars, and enjoy your Friday!

Victoria Sauter

AMS Prince – Victoria Sauter, Middle School Math Teacher

In addition to being a well-loved math teacher, Ms. Sauter also co-coaches STEM club, FLL Robotics, and MATHCOUNTS National Math Club with Mr. Xu, Mrs. Hartley, and Ms. Terry. Ms. Sauter has Master’s degrees from Lesley University in Secondary Mathematics Education and Special Education. She is a woman of many talents who studied Theatre, design, and Spanish during her Undergraduate career at the University of Maryland (College Park). During her spare time, Ms. Sauter’s hobbies include impersonating a shark, baking the world’s best pie, and just about everything that counts as “geek culture”!

Brittany Gallagher

MASSA – Brittany Gallagher, 5th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Gallagher joined MASSA last year when she moved to Tucson from Florida, and we are so glad to have her! She has experience teaching 2nd through 5th grades in all subject areas and has a Master of Arts in Teaching (K-6), and a Bachelor of Arts in English. Prior to teaching, Mrs. Gallagher worked for Scholastic Book Fairs’ corporate office, helping put books into the hands of children nationwide. In her own words, “I love helping all children learn; I am especially passionate about helping kids discover a love of reading!”

Kimber Kirwin

AMS Flower – Kimber Kirwin, 1st Grade Teacher

Ms. Kirwin recently moved from her native state of Colorado for year-round sun and new adventures in Arizona, and she has been a fantastic addition to the AMS 1st grade team. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts in Applied Psychology (Marriage and Family Therapy Specific). Her work experience prior to teaching includes Grief Counseling and also acting and writing! She shares her talents both on stage and on the court as a co-lead for the school Drama Program and coach for the Girl’s Volleyball Team. Ms. Kirwin says, “Please feel welcome to stop by my classroom any time! I’m a fan of hugs :)”

tawanna erving kinder

AMS Camelback – Tawanna Erving, Kindergarten Teacher

Ms. Erving has been teaching at AMS Camelback since its first year of existence. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated from Eastern Illinois University. Ms. Erving has over 15 years of teaching experience, 13 of those being in the Kindergarten classroom! She shares that teaching is her heart and passion. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Erving enjoys shopping, reading books, and spending quality time with her two daughters and family.

Thank you Ms. Sauter, Mrs. Gallagher, Ms. Kirwin, and Ms. Erving for your dedication and care!
